This has been reposted from 2008. The memory is still green.
This will be rambling post about my observations of events that happened seven years ago on 9/11/01.
Seven years ago, I was giving a poster presentation on standardizing electromagnetic sensors before the FAA-NASA-DOD Ageing Aircraft Conference in Orlando, Florida. The conference was the usual stuff with all the Government wonks wanting all the free handouts from the Peddlers. The talk of the conference was the recent appointment and promotion of a FEMALE officer to head up Air Force Labs (who was at the conference). Mind you, most of the attendees were first rate military and civilian scientists, but many were Logistics Officers (Loggies). Loggies are often the ones that give the Military Industrial Complex a bad name on the government side; none are combat command types. However, the military could not function without them. The good ones win our wars.
The XXX intelligence people had a new, huge plasma flat screen television going off in the corner. Suddenly, there was a stir on the floor with people whispering to go look at the TV the XXXs had. There was a world trade center tower on fire. Immediately, the FAA folks made for the exits. The Military held a meeting and made some announcements to return to their units (just like in a John Wayne movie). Then they realized the Brigadier was a woman; to their credit, they followed the star, regardless of gender.. I will admit, for the most part, the most of the military instinctively turned to her for command. She contacted her chain and generally rescinded the return to their units directive, but they were to secure the conference. The universal thoughts were how we were going to get revenge or destroy the country that did this (except for one dude from Maryland that thought we should find out why they did this to us).
To provide relevant background, I was in the Army at Sheridan Kaserne in Germany when the SOFA was signed. I had been living out of a jeep for 3 months, in the winter, on c-rations and no shower. I had permission to return to Augsburg, and but I had no money. I went by the O-club on the way back and was amazed with the spit shined howitzers sitting outside the doors. I entered to a room full of generals, politicians, and diplomats, and nonchalantly walked over to the office window to cash a check. The secretary asked me what I was doing there. I turned around and found a putzfrau was mopping up after me, I really stank; and the generals were surrounding me and looking at me like I was vermin.
In a conference full of Colonels, a captain, LT or SGT were like me at the SOFA conference. Anybody who knows the military knows that Cols, navy Captains, etc do not stand guard. It was interesting watching the COGO and NCOs standing guard. Yet, they were all serious and proud to do it. I was interested in knowing who they were guarding against.
As events ensued , were told that some Middle Easterners had hijacked some heavy aircraft and flown them into the World Trade Center. This conference had people representing civil and military aviation from all over the world. I found no sympathy from anyone for the hijackers.
We did wind the conference down, but nobody could get back home. There is a law that states that Government personnel can not take trips paid for by contractors - a good law in normal circumstances. There were two rental cars in the contingent trying to get back to Tinker AFB. My daughter had one (she is another contractor) and one of the government people had one. So we and a college professor from Oklahoma City went back in a nice comfortable car, and the g-people crammed themselves into a compact. We heard on the radio there was gas gouging, but we did not see any. Everybody we met on the way was shaken up and wanted revenge. Twenty three hours later, we drove into the return at TUL to see a guarded and empty facility. There were cars from California, Ontario, and Florida there. It is amazes me that today, the philosophy from the Maryland dude so permeates our society. Seven years ago, we all were ready to bear any burden and undergo any hardship to punish those that did that to us. Today, the Liberal/cosmo/marxists just want to hold their hands and sing Kumbyah.

Updating Epimenides
Epimenides, stated that "All Cretans are liars." Epimenides himself, was a Cretan. Is his statement true or false? To update that statement, including attribution of causation, "All modern dhimocrapts are liars, but not all liars are modern dhimocrapts. In plain and simple English (you know, that tongue of the privileged) If you see a dhimocrapt and he opens his mouth and says something, that can be judged by it's origin to be a lie. If, however, you hear a huckster trying to sell you something, that doesn't mean he/she/it is a dhimocrapt.

A modern Dhimocrapt Prayer for Intercession
Prayer for Intercession, 2016
Hail Hillary, full of it
Obama is with thee
Blessed art thou among women, LGBTs and other genders,
And blessed is the fruit of thy womb Chelsey
Holy Hillary, Mother of progressives,
pray for us sinners, Republicans and Conservatives,
Now and at the hour of our vote, and everyone else's' deaths.

Consider This
All the libruls and financial grifters are having coronaries about BRIXIT. Maybe the British people remember that they were a once, very successful. nation, whose rulers were selected by themselves. Now they are ruled by a foreign group of non-elected bureaucrats, ruling by ukase. Their laws are not decided by elected legislators, but by those same non-elected bureaucrats. At times, the Brits may seem a little slow, but they are not stupid. They want their culture and country back! Can anybody see any difference between their condition and status now and what it would have been if they had lost WW2?
Now consider the merits of TEXIT and OKIEXIT, It seems that we, in flyover country, are being treated the same as the Brits by the EU. No difference. We are being gradually being edged into serfdome by our east and west coast betters. Maybe it is time we took a hard look at this.

Banning Guns for Gorillas and Alligators
Lemme tell ya what's coming up. Two or three weeks ago, a child fell into a gorilla pen and the keepers had to shoot the gorilla to protect the child. Yesterday, an alligator snatched a two year old and ate 'em. Do you know what the common thread is in this. Guns! We must have a new ban to keep them being sold to gorillas and alligators. Of course. we should also ban them from zookeepers. "Never let a good crisis go to waste!" The motto of libruls and socialists.

Words mean different things to different people
A few years ago (OK many years ago) McDonnell Douglas Aircraft company was celebrating the first flight of their new aircraft, the fabulous MD-11. A bunch of movers and shakers were invited to witness the flight from an auditorium in (I think) the Engineering Center in Long Beach. (Nobody could really witness it in-situ, unless they were in a chase plane.) They had all sorts of stuff live on the giant screen in the auditorium. I happened to be there on other business, and they graciously invited an engineering ragamuffin like me to view the showing. The MD-11 took off from a field East of Long Beach and proceeded out over the Pacific Ocean so as not to be over populated areas.
The Computer room, filled with Cray computers was just across the hall from the entrance to the auditorium. Suddenly, the screen went blank. No sound. No image. There were all sorts of rumblings in the auditorium. The door to the Auditorium flew open and a young geek shouted into the room "We've crashed." After a few heart attacks in the McDonnell family and management, he amended that statement to the computers have crashed and could not process the telemetry.
This is a posting in praise of a truly great company. However, even the greatest company is at the mercy of it's lowest geek.
This posting was brought to mind because of a moronic commenter's statement on a popular blog asking why we should even carry black boxes on aircraft if we couldn't immediately retrieve them after a crash. Someone see that the moron gets an invite to the Engineering Center where they recover and refurbish the black (orange) boxes to be read. Those engineers and techs are truly awesome in what they accomplish!

The Net Is Rigged Against Conservatives
Most of the middle-of-the-road or more conservative discussion sites have now switched over to facebook or other social media sites for commenting. They will not let you contact them or complain. They will not talk to you about how to ameliorate the situation. Hot Air, Instapundit, and similar sites require you to use Facebook - you know the site controlled by Zuckerberg, the Facebook owner who censors conservative postings. Facebook holds the position of a "common carrier" but they spend their time trying to control the political spectrum - in favor of "progressives."
They say, "all you have to do is join facebook," and you can post on their sites." What's wrong with that? Would you like to trust your personal data to a political operative and a site that is in the business of censoring people like you. If you go to the sites mentioned, you can see they are much diminished. They are filled with political shills and operatives, and other obvious morons. Because of the posting limitations, their site comments go forward without any other views. Most of the commenters that have supported these sites for the last dozen years are no longer posting, including me. Thanks Ed and Glenn. Good businessmen!
Site comments, in my humble opinion, should be a contract between the site owner and the commenter. Why should an honest site demand the commenter go through a biased third party to make coments to the site?
If anybody is interested, here are a few interesting blogs that accept your comments directly:
